OUT OF SERVICE??? (11:40 PM EST)
Due to my dead monitor, The Phantom Menace, and a SHITLOAD of anger, I may not update for a couple days. If I do, it might be brief since Rine likes to use his computer.... To quote Arny.... "I'll be bock"

F*%K
Ok, this shit has REALLY made me angry. I shut off my computer and go to work, all was well. I come home, flip on my box and my F&#KING monitor says 'NO SIGNAL'. So I'm like "WTF?" I check my cards, check my wires, reboot etc. No dice. I put other video cards in, no dice. I hook it to Rine's computer (which I'm now on) and no dice. IT IS F%&KING DEAD. Now this seems minor till you consider THIS IS THE SECOND F*#KING ONE!!!!! Same company too, Impression. Avoid those mother F&@KERS like the plague, they totally SUCK. Pain in the ass #2, the place I deal with CCS (who are outstanding themselves) only have Impression monitors except the big F*$KING $1000000000000000 dollar models. AGH!!!!!!!!! So now what? It's still under warrenty, so maybe cash back? God I hope. Pain in the ass #3 While visiting the CCS and Impression sites Rine's WinBLOW$ crashed once, and Netscape once. Bill Gates must rot in HELL. Pain in the ass #4 I was going to camp out tomorrow to get my tickets for the 12:01 AM showing of The Phantom Menace, now I'm going to have to use one of my days off to drive 1 1/2 hours (one way) to replace it somehow..... Pain in the ass #5 I am sorta broke now, and I just handed Rine $100 toward my debt for this F%(KING monitor.

Q3A EXPANSION PACK

BIRTH OF ANOTHER SOFTWARE ANTICHRIST?
FADZ has posted what may be the most evil piece of software to date (no not Window$ 98), it's called Third Voice and it allows you to leave inline notes on websites. That's right, comments right there on the page... I fear the wrath of angry 12 year olds... ;) However, on the bright side, I'll be setting up links to shithole sites so folks can let the webmasters know they suck :) Go to THIRD VOICE to read more of the evil >:) Once you got the software drop by PLANETCHUMP and leave a mark or 10... ;)
CDRW HELP...
Burned my first CD last night from MP3's I LEGALLY made from my own CD. I knew that high quality wavs were CD in quality/size, but was not aware that a high quality wav on a CD would play in my CD player :) Two problems:
#1 Snaps crackles and pops. Got some, not sure what to do, I disabled screensavers and everything else, and walked away from my computer totally. See #2 before calling me stupid.
#2 Used CD Spin Doctor on them to clean them up, and it said 'could not create 5000.tmp. Now there was 800 MB of free temp space on that drive, so I know space was not an issue, so what might be the problem?
NORM QUOTE
Norm:  Hey, everybody.
All:   [silence; everybody is mad at Norm for being rich]
Norm:  [carries on both sides of the conversation himself]

REDWOOD + STOMPED = STOMPEDWOOD?
Well, two biggies in the 3D community are now one real biggie. I am happy about this, hopefully PQ will get a kick in the nuts by this move, there is another HUGE gameing entity on the web baby... :)
INTERNET FREEDOM ACT
From Slashdot:
"...removes the FCC from regulating the Internet, preventing the forcing of broadband customers from buying Internet access from the broadband provider, and making it a Federal crime to "knowingly use another person's Internet e-mail address, or "domain name," to send unsolicited mass e-mails."
Oh my, this looks sweet.... :) Read the whole thing HERE
CDRW HELP...
Anyone bright in the area of CDRW? I was burning a test music CD (my own CD of course) and got this error:
T0100: I/O error (06/C5/00) - Write error - buffer underrun occurred
T0100: I/O error (06/C5/00) - Write error - buffer underrun occurred
T7118: TrackWriter error - Command retry failed
WTF is this, HELP said it wasn't writing fast enough... how does a 36X CDROM not write fast enough to a 2X CDRW? Would putting the data on my harddrive prevent this???
GO HERE NOW!!!
This is where I buy 90% of all my computer hardware, and once you dig the site you'll see why... Can you say 128 MB SDRAM for $106? Or SBLIVE! Value for $57? Go to HERE NOW.
NORM QUOTE
[Norm returns from another trip to plug the parking meter]
Sam:  What'll you have this time, Norm?
Norm: A cow if I have to climb those stairs one more time.

Q3A BENCHMARKS (1:15 PM EST)
Brian Hook's .plan file has been updated.
Programmer    id Software

...benchmark was done on Win98

Options were set to the defaults ("normal").

Test machine was an Intel PIII/500 w/ 128MB of RAM.  Sound was disabled.  We
want to run the tests on an AMD K7, but our test unit has some reliability
problems.

SPACE NEWS
SPACE has some amusing news from this week...Including a beer fact :)
RANDOM PRATTLE
Well, not much news today actually, I  thought about making some up but... ;)

Upgraded to Netscape 4.6 (Unix version), worst move I ever made... Man, if I open certain pages or try to insert links with composer, ALL Netscape apps close, when opened in terminal I see a 'Bus error' Anyone know what this is, and how to fix? :)

LINUX KERNEL 2.3.1
Yet another kernel is out, but due to the numbering, I believe this one is an unstable developer version.

RINE'S LINK OF THE DAY
Kicking off a couple days of comic links here since Rine finally reappeared and graced me with links :) I was starting to twitch from random browsing.... There appears to be a Far Side clone comic out called In The Bleachers that is purty amusing.. This link will go to the @MARILLO (how dare they use @ for A?) main page where they have other fine comics like Foxtrot...
