* More On Clarion
AudioPC - MP3 Capability
Interactive
Objects has developed software to allow the AudioPC to play MP3s :) Currently
though the availible memory in the AudioPC will keep it from being realistic,
but those minidrives should be out by the end of the year :)

* AOL Bot
AOL's
new stratagy to keep M$ IM clients off their servers is a bot who kicks
them when they connect to AOL's server. I wonder if typing 'no bots please,'
will make it go away ;)

* AOL Allies
AOL
has made deals with Earthlink and Mindspring to provide AOL Instat Messager
with their account. I only pay attention to this since it's funny to see
the two big kids on the block beating each other up, as long as they leave
me alone. http://www.zdnet.com/zdnn/stories/news/0,4586,2310256,00.html
* V
Add
the ability to do power searching and more to your box, all with a simple
.exe. Whoohoo, check the features:
*
Handles large files with ease - and large really does mean LARGE!
*
An easy to use interface which takes full advantage of keyboard shortcuts
and right-click menus
*
Files may be fixed at a column position so anything to the left of the
column will not scroll
*
Favorite files and directories may be bookmarked for easier retrieval
*
V can be extended through use of User Commands
*
Wrap long lines to the screen or to a fixed length
*
Handles all combinations of End-Of-Line characters. In particular, Unix
format.
*
Columns of text may be copied to the clipboard
*
Selections may be appended to the clipboard
*
EBCDIC support
*
Extensive command line support
*
Microsoft Intellimouse support
*
and much more ...
For
those who like commandline (me) you can use V from a common DOS box in
winders. I like that :)

* Kleptomania
Capture
test from ANYTHING. Now you can capture all the text in Eplorer's folderd,
or in a File Findd with Kleptomania. It's greaty for keeping track of say
your Winodws dir to see when new files are added, and what folders are
bloating. Features:
*
capture and process on-screen text of any applications, of any registered
fonts
*
copy text onto clipboard
*
search the selected phrase with the web search engines like Altavista,
Amazon and more.
*
coming soon: dial the selected phone number
*
launch internet browser for recognized URL
*
start email editor for recognized email addresses or addressee name
*
sum selected numbers
*
count a number of words and characters
*
show font name, size, bold/italic style of used font. Stop unreliable guessing
about fonts on the screen
*
capture and process folder trees, file lists, database reports, text content
of messages and dialog boxes, menus, * * * status lines, precisely selected
areas of
*
internet browser views, visible text of legacy systems, and more
*
don't rely on application clipboard support or any communication standards
behind the scene
*
preserve font name, size, bold/italic style
*
put the captured text onto the clipboard in plain and Rich Text Format
*
full install and uninstall support
*
this is the first (and seems to be the only) solution for capturing text
by the means of OCR

* Clarion AutoPC,
Make Your Car Knight Rider
Imagine
the cool factor of being able to say to your dashboard, "show me how to
get to 7-11 KITT," and it would. I''d feel like I had my own Knight Rider
:) But the truth is, you can. The Clarion AudioPC is powered by Windows
CE (I wonder if the little LED screen can show a BSOD?) and has all the
functionality of a Palm computer and more. controls your CD changer, shows
maps, displays address books, takes notes, etc, etc.... I have tons of
info about this toy courtesy of Rine over at ANIMEATANDPOTATOES,

* Microsoft Test
Box Crack Self, Moses Laughs
M$
challenged hackers to crack their Winblows 2000 server to show off it's
security and stabilty, however Win2K decided to commit suicide. After a
short online life the server went down for 24 hours, and is currently offline
with 'router problems'. HAHAHAHHAHHAHAH

* M$ Targets AOL
FOr Termination
M$
recently decided to slit AOL's throat by undercutting their online prices,
and
even giving away access to get new subscribers. Do you know much about
MSN? No? That's cause it failed the last time they tried to take AOL on.
Funny how M$ has seemingly drained their brainstorm pool, and now are left
with a brainfart pool.

thiose of you who love User Friendly, O'Reilly has a User Friendly book

who cannot understand the Geek culture.

* RIAA/Diamond
Settle Lawsuit
Finally
this issue has been closed in an out of court settlement. The article can
catch you up to what happaned, as well as give a little more information
into what this all means: http://www.mp3.com/news/306.html
* Artists Supporting
MP3 Via Calanders
MP3.com
recently setup calanders for artists to post information for fans, which
supports my theory that MP3's will allow musicians to kick their labels
out and take control of their own careers. Now artists can control every
aspect of their music, prodution, distribution (MP3) and setting up tours
and such. With these messageboard/calanders fans can keep up to date with
their artists tour dates and new tunes, and all witout ANY RIAA interference.
Now all musicians need to rise up and shed the record labels yoke and support
this before the evil SDMI goes into effect and locks down MP3 freedom.
Check it out: http://www.mp3.com/news/305.html
* #151 Before
you pickup a new addiction, make sure to store up all the supplies you
need to support it
With
crack you need guns and money. With Quake you need caffine. With StarCraft
you need about 12 solid free hours a day.
