Subject: The Frisco show Date: Mon, 27 Oct 1997 13:46:18 -0700 (PDT) From: DTHOMAS@scuacc.scu.edu Alright Vein... here it is, finally. the setlist from the San Francisco show... 9-27-97 at the Warfield. The show started out with a Henri Mancini cover band. I think their name was "The Opening Act". They were a damn good band... jazzy with a carribean flavor, too. They were much better than Ween's last SF opening band "The Kuntry Kunts". Anyway, they got us all in a great mood for Ween. Like other shows on this tour, Ween played for about three hours and I was very impressed on how well they played. I saw them last year with the Shit Creek Boys and was doubtful if they'd be as good without all the other muscicians. (i.e. the fiddler and the guy on the steel pedal). But the boys proved me wrong by jamming their shit out like I couldn't fucking believe. Here's the setlist: Buckingham Green What Deaner was Talkin' About Spinal Menangitas The Golden Eel The Stallion pt. 3 Don't get 2 close (2 my fantasy) Freedom of 76 Tick Wavin' my Dick in the Wind Take me Away Piss up a Rope The HIV Song The Mollusk Frank Captain Fantasy Chant-> Can't put my finger on it Pumpin' for the Man Mr. Richard Smoker Sketches of Winkle Baby Bitch She Wanted to Leave Awesome Sound (they fucking blew me away with this one) Ocean Man The Blarney Stone Dr. Rock Encore: Birthday Boy (Gener alone and acoustic) Sarah (Gener alon and Acoustic... these two songs were really good) Buenos Tardes Amigo Mister, would you please help my Pony? Fat Lenny -> You Fucked up Encore 2: Booze me Up and Get Me High Poopship Destroyer LMLYP (lasted at least 20 minutes and had funk, soul, jazz, and hard rock jams) Bottom line is that they kicked ass and put on one of the best live shows I've ever seen. Can't wait till they come back to the West Coast. Peace, Ryan Vandenbroeck DThomas@scuacc.scu.edu
