Vein,
I was lucky enough to see Ween twice this time around. I first saw them
in Athens, GA on Jan. 20.  It was the best Ween show I have ever seen.
The boys were in great moods and the crowd was totally into it. The
highlight of the show was when the Alex from Royal Fingerbowl (the
opening band)  joined Ween to play "Hot for teacher". Claude sang this
one, he nailed every one of those drum fills, it ROCKED. People were
jumping on stage dancing, stage diving, and this one guy (with the crazy
little blond chick) jumped on stage and sang the end of Ocean Man. I
must admit, that kid had talent.  Dean later claimed he had "zits on his
nutsack, and yeast in his crack." They did "Mr. Richard Smoker" and
dedicated it to Michael Stipe (part owner of the 40 Watt)....hahaha.  It
was a wild show.
I then went to Charlotte, N.C. on Jan. 27 and saw them again.  They did
songs that I've never seen them do live  like "Sorry Charlie", "Marble
Julip Juicy Tree" and  "Sarah".  However the Charlotte crowd is quite
different from the Athens crowd. They didn't really seem into it. People
started leaving and Gener called them "fucking pussies".  That town
isn't capable of appreciating a good band, except for maybe phish or
widespread (its quite sad really). Nevertheless, I loved it.  I took a
lot of pictures and got most of both shows on video. Dont miss Ween if
the poopship sails to your town!!!!

saw The boys in Charlotte,NC on 1/27...They started out maybe more fucked up
then me...proceeded to catch their sound after about 20 minutes and then
ripped a large chunk from my brain, sucked it, fucked it and left it
alone...Sometime throughout the set I was thrown onto stage where Gene caught
me. The boys then had a few kind words for me, showed me the respect I
deserve, then tossed me back....An unbelievable night for me even though I
once again have fallen hard off the wagon....Deaner ripped off one of the rip
roarinest solos in Voodoo Lady this side of Leslie West....Maybe they should
turn the treble up some on his axe...I dont need all those high pitch sounds
anyway...My head is sore, my skin is dry and Im strung out again...But hey
what the fuck...Its fucking Ween...It works for them and its workin again for
me....Thank you for remembering..
