• Subject: new review for you From: mikeh@nnc.net (Mike Hill) photo by Mike Hill Well my girlfriend and I endured the 7 hour drive up to Louisville and saw Ween at the Brewery. Let me begin by saying it was worth every cent of the ticket and every second of the drive. Chris Harford opened the show with Ween backing him up. That was my first time seeing Chris live and he sounded great. When he first came on stage with ween, several fools began yelling "poopship!!!" thinking that Chris was Gener. Ween then took the stage and blew my ass away. They played a bunch of songs from Chocolate and Cheese and even played "Laura" from the pod. They also treated us with a cover of Van Halen's "Hot For Teacher" with Cluade playing the David Lee Roth role. They ended with an extended version of "Buenos Tardes Amigos" where Claude played guitar and Deaner played drums. But, the highlight of the show for me was when Bobby Ogden joined Ween to play "Booze me up and get me high" and "Mr. Richard Smoker." The good news is, I got most of it on video. There was a little balcony that sat right over the stage where my girlfriend and I sat and video taped the show. This was the best seat in the house mangs, holy shit. So we were practically on stage watching the show and gettin all lit up. After the show we hung out in the "crack house" behind the Brewery with Ween and company. I finally got to meet Bobby Ogden, Mean Ween, Chris Harford and Vein himself (the mastermind behind "Vein's Live Ween Page"). They were all really nice and I really enjoyed hanging out with them. One freaky looking guy with dreadlocks was professing his love for deaner after the show. I heard that the next night, this same guy with dreadlocks got into a fight outside the Cleveland show and bit off some poor guy's ear. Man, there are some fucked up people out there photo by Mike Hill
  • Subject: Ween May 8th Concert From: Governor ( shudder2@hotmail.com ) Hello, I recently went to the Ween concert held at the Brewery in Louisville, KY on the 8th of May. I have been a big fan of Ween since '95 and was happy they came by. I used to live in Baltimore and that was when I first heard about them. Anyways, the concert was great; unlike some bands where only the music is played, Ween entertained the audience in between songs with some talk here and there. They chose the best variety of songs to play and I was incredibly pleased. After the show I shook their hands at the stage and went home. Songs they sang were Tick, Mr. Will You Please Help My Pony?, Mollusk, Buckingham Green, Waving My Dick in the Wind, HIV Song, Spinal Menningitas, Voodoo Lady, Freedom of '76 and a bunch of others. Just thought you would like to here about it. Sincerely, Ben photo by Mike Hill
  • From: bredncrcus@aol.com (BredNcrcus) Subject: Re: Anybody get that on tape??? Yeah, mang. I was there. It was kick ass. Ween's energy was way up and they were really feeding off the energy of the crowd. They did a cover of van halen's "I'm hot for teacher." that kicked ass. a number of bra's were thrown on stage and a slightly out of his mind fan got up on stage, put it on, and crowd surfed. as for the music they played everything you'd want ot hear. it was almost a completely even selection from every one of their CD's at the end of the concert (Dean was playing drums for an extended version of Buenos Tardes, Amigo) and he pushed the drums over, their regular drummer drove a guitar through the drums. The entire band then grabbed all the electrial stuff, all the speakers, keyboards, guitars, everything and piled it into a huge pile on the stage. Then the fans started coming up on stage. Dean and Gene left, but the others stayed to talk to the fans. i met the "ween brothers" before the concert. they're really nice and easy going guys - and of course they ARE the best band on the planet photo by Mike Hill
