The Chocolate and Cheese Tour 1994-95

Subject: c+c show review-boston mass From: ABARTHA182@aol.com Well, no ones written in for the C+C show in Boston so it's time to get off my lazy ass and represent. After hanging around at Axis for too long listening to sesame street songs on the clubs system ( have you ever listened to Rubber Ducky at 100 decibals) Dean finally takes the stage and everyone goes crazy. Gene follows soon after with Claude and Andrew and a bottle of Purple Passion and toilet paper streaming off his mic stand in true Steven Tyler fashion. Eveyone calms down some dude asks "do you know who you're fucking with?" to which Gener replies "you're fucking with the goddamn stallion, meng" and everyone knows they're just gonna kick ass. Axis is actually a dance club so they had some pretty cool techno lights going ween were just on point as usual. They played some songs with just the tape deck mostly pure guava stuff which was pretty rad and basicly just kicked out the jams. Even though i wasn't on anything that night i still couldn't get that down syndrome smile off my face. I haven't missed a gig since and doubt I will as long as ween continue to pump out the best rock in the world. Peace in the Middle East, I'm out. Subject: ween C+C tour atlanta From: hampc Hi, i was lucky enough to catch the ween show in atlanta a few years back. it was my first ween show and after seeing it i vowed never to miss another one and i haven't since. its hard to remember all that went on at that show since i was tripping and doing whippets in the parking lot of the masquerade that night. they opened the show with the Stallion p.3 and after that deaner said that they were gonna play only songs off pure guava for that night. well papa dean was lying. they played an awesome show about 3 hours long. only the mollusk show compares to the energy they played with that night. they kept calling for the red stage light and promsing everyone shots of jagermeister if we stayed till daylight. deaner also kept making the sign of the X with his arms while gener gave him dirty looks. Songs played that night include (not in any order): mister would you please help my pony, pumpin for the man, Aids, captain fantasy, dr rock, maybe little birdy, poop ship destroyer, dont get too close to my fantasy, and they finished it off with LMLYP which kicked off into a thirty minute jam at which point the supporting members walked off stage pissed cause ween was still going strong, and the weeners said roll the tape and they finished up with a few more tunes. It was a helluva show. Ive been a devoted fan ever since. -D. Subject: WEEN tour experiences (C&C, 95) Date: Tue, 3 Jun 1997 10:52:32 -0400 From: ltg8986@garnet.acns.fsu.edu I saw WEEN on consecutive nights in Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando, respectively, both at the EDGE nite club. Both times they played approx. 3 hrs, and both times my face melted off. The two sets only shared about 50% of their contents, so all in all I witnessed around 35-40 WEEN songs within about 40 hours. In Orlando, we got there late, and wondered "will we see them? We hope we didn't drive 3 hours for nothing!! Egad!!" So we got in line at the front door to the club, only to wait and have the bouncer/doorman/wall that it was "Club night", and that WEEN was playing "around back"...back? So, we went around back, and there was this barn-looking thing with no real doors...made of something like tin-siding... The show rocked, we missed the opening act (who the hell cared? It would not have come close to comparing to WEEN) and it was around 28 degrees when we got out of the barn/hanger thing... Maybe you didn't read me correctly...28 degrees ... in Florida. Needless to say, WEEN's power not only influences myself and other humans, but it also affects the weather. 28 in FL? Go see WEEN, because I want to again. Love, Lucas Lucas Grzybowski the Mac of all Dada Subject: c and c review (kinda) Date: Tue, 13 May 1997 22:47:15 -0400 (EDT) From: DEANER76@aol.com i was fortuante to go to one of the most kick ass shows in the world on June 16thin Philadelphia. I caught Ween at the fantastic Trocadero club on ArchStreet. The band Local H (which is now about 5 times larger than ween) + instant death opened. Local H was mildly entertaining but Instant Death was pretty much crap. Finally after an hour or so of opening bands, y Ween came onto stage. Dean, Gene, Andy and even Claude, were all barefoot, as they immediatly started bouncing up and down to the circus melody of the HIV song. Ween continued to play strong all night. The entire show eventually topped out at about 3 1/2 or 4 hours!!!!! Some highlights included: A 30-minute Vallejo, in which Gener left the stage and the band just played on forever; A 9-minute Voodoo lady with a wild noise/distortion solo from Deaner; Andy Weiss playing an awesome mellotron for the grooves of awesome sound; a 45 minute encore; a giant party of people dancing around on stage, singing into the mics, and just having a good time (during Voodoo lady about 20 people were on stage). The crowd was great, and everyone was having such a blast. This one guy got on stage and mooned the crowd and "ween" was written across his ass. Another dude got on stage while deaner was jamming away and drank his beer. Overall the concert was just unreal, like nothing i've seen. Here are all the songs i can remember them playing, (i know for a fact they played a hell of a lot more, I just did not have Pure Guava at the time and I had barely listened to the Pod or God Ween Satan-these are not in the order they were played): Take Me Away Spinal Meningitis I Can't Put My Finger On It (wild arabian version, like none i had ever heard) Tear For Eddie Baby Bitch Drifter in the Dark Voodoo Lady Buenos Tardes Amigo HIV (opened and closed with it) Don't Shit Where You Eat Fat Lenny You Fucked Up Dr. Rock Sorry Charlie Awesome Sound Sketches of Winkle Stallion pt. 3 Pumpin 4 the Man I Saw Gener Crying In His Sleep Don't Get 2 Close 2 My Fantasy Vallejo Weed Whore Now I'm Freaking Out etc, etc, etc, etc (if anyone has a complete list of this set please mail it to Vein) Subject: Ween concert-Detroit Date: Fri, 2 May 1997 20:29:51 -0400 (EDT) From: KateLM1979@aol.com I went to the Ween concert in Detroit on October 22, 1996. I can honestly say it was the best show I've ever attended. It totally kicked my ass! Sorry I don't have any pictures, but I never anticipated meeting them. Four friends and I hung out after the show and after standing at the bottom of a staircase for about half an hour and being totally denied by security Gene Ween came down the stairs and we asked him if we could come up and he said, "Sure!" We walked up the stairs and there we were in a room with Dean, Gene, the band and about ten other lucky concert goers. We sat on the floor with Dean and just started talking! He was holding the fifth of Jack Daniels that he had been drinking on stage (along with several Rolling Rocks). I started asking him all the Ween questions I've always wanted the answer to. I was slightly disappointed to find out that ScotchGuard powered bongs were a myth, but everything else was like a dream come true! Dean is definitely number one I my guys to sleep with list (its too bad he just got married) and Gene is a close second. Dean gave us a shot of his J.D. and after hanging out for about an hour, they said they had to get going to Canada, but we got a tour of the poopship before and I hugged them good-bye. October 22, 1996---the best night of my life!!!!! Lisa Coffin from Cheyenne Wyoming, wrote in the Guestbook: Ween is an excellant band. In november of 94' on Chocolate and Cheese tour in Dallas Texas at the show next to me was a handicapped man in a wheelchair. Being in the front row was not a great place for him, the guy was a really cool guy, but obviosly being at a ween show the crowd got a little wild and the man in the wheelchair got knocked over, i belive it was during Pumpin for the man but anyway the guy was knocked over, my friend and i tried to help him up, being two scrany girls we couldn't do it. Dean and Gene stopped the show jumped down off stage and helped this man up and on to the stage so that he could watch the show from the stage without getting hurt. Out of all of the many ween showa that i have seen that has got to be the coolist shit i have seen them do. It just shows that they are real people and they do care. I've got much respect for them. Photo Submitted by __Mike__ shalyn from Honolulu, Hawaii wrote in the Guestbook: ween kicks ass!!! at the chocolate and cheese concert, i was next to this guy in the front row who just broke up with his girlfriend and was singing "baby, bitch" at the top of his lungs. at least he was a good singer. i really liked how they were giving out free cd's and tapes there too. Claude Coleman slamming the skins in New York David Kogan Wrote: hey my name's Anne, and you sound like you need Chocolate and Cheese concert reviews so I decided to be helpful if I can be. I was at the Chicago show on Oct. 30, '94, at Metro, and it was incredible. It was the first Ween show I had been to so of course it was great. I don't really remember much of the song list, but I know they played about half of Chocolate and Cheese, including what they said was the first live "Tear for Eddie". they didn't play too much off of Pure Guava, but they got pumpin for the man. High points of the show were Dean putting on all of the various clothes thrown on stage, and the huge zip-lock full of weed that got thrown on stage. I found out later that after the show, the band and some reporter got into a pot-fight in the dressing room, and wasted all the weed. A great show. Thanks for letting me share. Anne Photo Submitted by __Mike__ I saw Ween live at Tramps the night the Yankees won the World Series. (This may not be a professional review but it is done by a professional Ween fan) I didn't know quite what to expect but I went in expecting everything possible. Doo Rag opened and at first I thought that might be one of the members of Ween but that idea soon left. I took a couple of hits before Ween appeared on the stage, it was only a foot away with nobody inbetween me and the band I have a deep respect for. I was almost shivering. The lights were red and all of a sudden they came out and I could have cum in my pants I was so excited. They had the country all stars and Yankee hats on. The experience was too mkuch to explain. They did the Stallion Part three which is one of the greatest songs in the universe but they had an echo machine on. The lyrics and notes lingered in my head for ten more seconds after they were originally played. I was in awe. The rest of the show I was screaming the words out and plain old hollaring for no good reason but when they played the stallion I stopped breathing. Blastman man man echoed the earth. however in awe I was I was still singing the words to the songs but later on they did some weird Hindu call to prayer shit that stopped the earth in its tracks, my response was that of someone two feet away from the A-bomb as it exploded. I stopped everything, a most spiritual event and I have to give ween mad props for being one of the greatest, if not the greatest, bandsz that have and will ever walk the face of this earth or any other. Nick P. Help me out here..........this Still looks pretty pathetic. I need some reviews from the C+C tour, I KNOW some of you were there, please send in anything you can.
